Kershaw County football teams begin brief scrimmage season

After having opened pre-season camp last Friday, Kershaw County's three public school varsity football teams will get a chance to hit someone other than their own teammates when the scrimmage season opens.

While discussing the various rumors as to the cost involved and how the new scoreboard at Zemp Stadium will be paid for (see July 25 edition of the Chronicle-Independent), Camden High School principal Dan Matthews made it a point to say that no public funds earmarked for the oldest high school football stadium still in use in the Palmetto State will go toward toward the scoreboard.
