Camden and Lugoff-Elgin will meet in today's 7:30 p.m. finale of the American Legion Park portion of the Kershaw-Richland Wooden Bat Tournament which concludes Thursday with four games being played at Richland Northeast.
For the third straight year, the ping will be replaced by the sounds of the crack of the bat as the Kershaw-Richland Classic Spring Break Baseball Tournament returns to Camden's American Legion Park for a three-day run beginning on Monday. Thursday's final day of the tournament will be held at Richland Northeast High School, site of the other half of the bracket.
After being shut out in their first match with Camden this season, the Lugoff-Elgin tennis team received a victory from Trevor Black at first singles only to fall to their visiting neighbors, 6-1, on Monday.
In a pairing between two young teams, Camden's edge in experience paid off as the Bulldogs tripped up rival Lugoff-Elgin, 7-0, in a Monday match played at the Roger Smoak Tennis Facility at Camden High School.
The deadline for purchasing $30 general admission tickets for the 83rd running of the Carolina Cup Races --- to be run on Saturday, March 28 at the Springdale Race Course in Camden --- is Saturday, March 14.
