Ten nurses graduated at Camden Hospital in the spring of 1947. "Remember when..." is a weekly historical feature showcasing life in Kershaw County, taken from the archives of the Chronicle-Independent. The Camden Midget basketball team won the state championship in the state tournament played at Myrtle Beach in March 1954. Celebrating the win are (first row, from left) Harold Robinson, Jimmie Roller, Jimmie Haynes, Charles Davenport, (second row) coach Clyde Jahnke, Lindsay Pierce, Bobby Johnson, Larry Foster, Lee McCaskill, Bobby Robinson, coach Giles Huggins and city recreation director Bob Allen. Not pictured is Marion Sheheen. In the championship game, Camden defeated Myrtle Beach 25 to 21.
