These are a few of the Future Queens who will be competing in our 2018 Junior Miss & Miss L-E Pageant Saturday at 7 p.m. They will also be competing for Fan Favorite so bring extra money to support your favorite contestant. They have made beautiful boxes that will be displayed in the lobby.

Camden Garden Club

The Camden Garden Club will hold its next meeting Monday at the Karesh Wing Long Term Care wing at Kershaw Health. We are very lucky to have such a wonderful retirement facility in our town. Every year the club holds this month's meeting at the facility. All the staff and residents really look forward to it. Unique exhibits at Irish Fest Camden

Little leprechauns, Irish wolfhounds, Gypsy Vanner horses, hawks, and knights in armored combat will be among the unique exhibits at Irish Fest Camden (IFC) on Saturday, March 3. The festival, in its second year, is expected to grow tremendously and has added several new and unique attractions.

Pitchforks return to FAC Feb. 2

The Fine Arts Center (FAC) of Kershaw County announces the return of the popular all-male a cappella group, The Pitchforks of Duke University, to the Wood Auditorium stage on Friday, Feb. 2 at 8 p.m. The Pitchforks' repertoire includes covers of both old and new pop music. Tickets are on sale now and are $10 for adults and $5 for students and can be purchased at the FAC box office located at 810 Lyttleton Street, by phone at (803) 425-7676 or online at www.fineartscenter.org. The concert is made possible through the generosity of Bob Sheheen.

Feral hog workshop February 6

The Kershaw County Conservation District will host a special workshop on managing feral hogs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 6 at the Kershaw County School District Administrative Offices, 2029 W. DeKalb St., Camden.

KCMA music competition Feb. 10

The Kershaw County Music Association (KCMA), an affiliate member of the Fine Arts Center of Kershaw County (FAC) will hold its annual music scholarship competition on Saturday, Feb. 10 in the Wood Auditorium on the FAC campus. The deadline for submissions is February 2. Applications, along with rules and regulations, can be found on the FAC website at www.fineartscenter.org. There is a $5 application fee.

Highland games come to Camden

In March 2018, Camden will join the ranks of South Carolina cities Aiken, Charleston, Greenville, Clover, Myrtle Beach and Columbia to host a NASGA-certified Highland Games. NASGA, the North American Scottish Games Athletics, was founded in 1976 and is dedicated to the promotion and understanding of Scottish Heavy Events competition in North America. The 2018 games will be held during the 2nd Annual Irish Fest Camden on Saturday, March 3, beginning with an opening ceremony at 11 a.m. at the corner of Rutledge and Church streets.

First Palmetto Bank partnered with Food for the Soul

First Palmetto Bank again partnered with Food for the Soul for its annual Christmas charity drive to help the less fortunate in Kershaw County. Nearly 1,200 items totaling 8,000 pounds were donated by bank employees, who competed against each other in evenly-divided teams to raise donations. The list of donated items expanded this year to include detergents, paper towels, plates and other items in addition to non-perishable foods and other dry goods.
