The Miss Camden/Miss Camden Teen pageant is seeking contestants for the 2017 pageant to be held Jan. 7 at Camden High School.
On Thursday, Nov. 10, at 7 p.m., the Kershaw County Music Association (KCMA) will present its annual Fall Choral Showcase at the Lugoff-Elgin High School auditorium. Admission is free and the public is invited to hear wonderful music ensembles from eight Kershaw County Schools, plus the new Community Concert Choir under the direction of Bo Dickinson.
North Central High School held homecoming festivities on Friday, Sept. 23 as the football team took on the Great Falls High School Red Devils. Twelve senior girls were selected by senior football players to be a part of the homecoming court. After a week of campaigning, the winners were selected by student vote. Senior Abigail DuRant was crowned Homecoming Queen, senior Alexis Baker was named 1st Alternate, and senior Kelsie Gardner was named 2nd Alternate. Last year's Homecoming Queen,Shadow Ostas, returned to participate in the crowning.

The Fine Arts Center of Kershaw County (FAC) will feature sculptor, Jeremy Butler in the Bassett Gallery, Sunday, Oct. 23 through Friday Nov. 13. The opening reception will be held in the Gallery from 5 -7 p.m. on Sunday immediately following the Dick Goodwin Big Band Concert. Meet with the artist and enjoy light hors d'oeuvres provided by Ashley's of Old McCaskill's Farm.
For those who love to be spooked, have a passion for history or just need something to do on a Saturday, the people from Proctor Hall will have their second Haunted Legends Tour of Camden on Oct. 22 at 5 p.m.
The Midlands Women's Center Color Fun Run and Walk is Saturday. This family friendly fundraising event is held at Historic Camden, 222 Broad Street, Camden. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. and start time is 9 a.m. The cost is $40 and includes a t-shirt. Children under 12 are free. All proceeds benefit Midlands Women's Center, a not for profit organization that assists women in Kershaw County who are facing unplanned pregnancies. The Fine Arts Center of Kershaw County held its Annual Meeting earlier in the month in the Jim & Pat Watts Performing Arts Wing at the FAC.
The King Haiglar Garden Club will meet Monday at 2 p.m. The meeting will begin at Camden High School with a tour of the CHS Greenhouses and a program by Joey Hendrix, earth science instructor. Refreshments and the business meeting will follow at the home of Marietta Gordon. The theme for artistic arrangements is "Our Treasures Unfold" from a quote by Alfred Billings Street: "Nature is man's teacher. She unfolds her treasures to his search, unseals his eye, illumes his mind, and purifies his heart; an influence breathes from all the sights and sounds of her existence."
The Camden Garden Club will hold its next meeting on October 10 at the home of Marty Harkey and guests are welcome. The speaker will be Cricket Newman.
A yard sale and BBQ fundraiser will be held Saturday at the American Legion in Camden starting at 7 a.m. BBQ will be served beginning at 10:30 a.m. The event is being held to support Kershaw County resident Brenda Lund who recently underwent heart surgery to implant a heart pump.
This October marks the 20th year for the award-winning Carolina Downhome Blues Festival in Camden. Produced and presented by the Fine Arts Center of Kershaw County, this year's event is scheduled for October 6-8 and will feature more than 22 artists in 17 venues over three days.
