The Camden Garden Club meets Monday

The Camden Garden Club will hold its next meeting Monday at Pear Tree Farm, the home of Squeaky Wangensteen. It is appropriately named after the large pear trees in the circular drive. The home has lots of windows overlooking the gardens followed by the open lush pastures with horses grazing.

KHGC meets Monday

The King Haiglar Garden Club will enjoy a field trip for its April meeting. The club will meet at 11 a.m. Monday at the home of Harriett Thomas, 1907 Robbin Drive, Camden. The group will carpool to Hartsville for lunch. After lunch the group will tour Kalima Gardens at Coker College.

Kershaw County 4Hers visit Legislative Day

Some of South Carolina's brightest young people, including Kershaw County 4Hers, recently visited the state capital to meet with legislators and share the impact 4-H has had on their lives and their communities. Events for the day included breakfast with members of the Agriculture and Natural Resources committee, lunch with the President and CEO of the National 4H Council, and personal visits with legislators.

Austin Jenkins to lead Historic Camden nature walk

Austin Jenkins, a popular local professional Naturalist, will conduct a nature walk at Historic Camden on April 23. Participation is free.

FAC receives $8,000 grant from Duke Energy

The Fine Arts Center of Kershaw County (FAC) recently received an $8,000 grant from Duke Energy. Through its grants, the Duke Energy Foundation supports local non-profits who make a contribution to the communities in which they live through programs, services and the economic impact they have on the community in which they serve.

The Kershaw County Music Association (KCMA,) an affiliate member of the Fine Arts Center of Kershaw County (FAC) will present its annual Spring Instrumental Showcase on Thursday, April 14 at 7 p.m. in the Wood Auditorium. Admission is free and the public is encouraged to attend.

Wild game dinner April 23

The West Wateree-Lugoff Rotary Club's third annual Wild Game Dinner and Silent Auction is scheduled for 6 p.m., Saturday, April 23, at Old McCaskill's Farm on Cantey Lane, just south of I-20. Proceeds go to the West Wateree Rotary Scholarship Fund benefiting Lugoff-Elgin High School seniors.

New art exhibition opens Thursday at FAC

The Fine Arts Center of Kershaw County (FAC) is pleased to announce a new exhibition opening on Thursday, April 7 in the Basset Gallery. Large, realistic landscapes in oils by Aiken artist, Al Beyer will be on display. The exhibition will open with a catered reception from 6 until 7:30 p.m. in the Bassett Gallery at the FAC and will run through May 4. Catering for the reception will be provided by Ashley's of McCaskill's Farms.

Patsy Cline tribute April 7

The Fine Arts Center of Kershaw County (FAC) will present Springer Theatrical's professional touring musical sensation, A Closer Walk with Patsy Cline at 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 7 in the Wood Auditorium. The performance is sponsored by Heritage Community Bank. Tickets are $20 for adults and $18 for students, seniors, and military and are on sale now. Come early and enjoy a catered reception for the opening of Al Beyer Landscapes in the Bassett Gallery from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
