The Miss Gold and Black and the Junior Miss Gold and Black pageants will be held on Saturday, Feb. 4. The pageant begins at 7 p.m. in the Camden High Performing Arts Auditorium. Tickets are $10 and may be purchased at Camden High School beginning Monday, Jan. 30.
The Camden Garden Club will hold its next meeting on January 9 at Springdale Hall. Last month was the club's Holiday Tea at the home of Diane Jones. The new members were welcomed and each presented with a blooming Christmas cactus.
The Lugoff -Elgin High School Literacy Express raised money to purchase over 500 books that were distributed at the Lights of Lugoff Parade on December 10th. More than 350 LEHS Students have participated in Literacy Express Events over the last 3 years and have visited 720 classrooms and read to approximately 18,000 elementary students in the West Wateree area.
The Fine Arts Center of Kershaw County (FAC) will present the Camden Community Theatre production of Steel Magnolias Thursday, January 12 through Sunday, January 15 in the Wood Auditorium. Performances are at 8:00 p.m. Thursday-Saturday, with a 3:00 p.m. Sunday matinee. The Camden Jaycees will be taking applications for it's annual Stocking Fund to help make Christmas a little more special for some Kershaw County families. Lorine Stogsdill is celebrating her 101st birthday on November 30. She will be celebrating with family and friends. She has four children and was an active participant in the 4H club, in scouting activities and in her community. She was an excellent seamstress, making her girls' clothes. She is a lover of all animals and allowed her children to keep ponies, pigs, squirrels and rabbits but drew the line at snakes.
