Revolutionary War Days is Nov. 7-8

Once more cannons will roar over the fields at Historic Camden Revolutionary War Site as the museum brings the War of Independence to life at its annual reenactment Nov. 7-8 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

FRC Color Run is Oct. 31

The Family Resource Center's (FRC) Teen Advisory Board will host its first Color Run on Oct. 31 at Scott Park on Battleship Road. The event titled "Color Me Scary" is a fundraiser and awareness event to support FRC's mission of providing free counseling, advocacy, and education programs that promote awareness, healing, and support.

Haunted Legends of Camden ghost tour

Haunted Legends of Camden, a special tour of some of Camden's most famous haunted places and their inhabitants, is this Friday, Oct. 22 starting at 5:30 p.m. The tour, sponsored by the UPS Store and Wooten and Wooten Auctions of Fine Art, Antiques & Great Estates, is a fundraiser for Louise C. CCT presents “A Raisin in the Sun” Oct. 22-25

Camden Community Theatre (CCT) will open its 2015-16 season with Lorraine Hansbury's classic play, "A Raisin in the Sun" Thursday, Oct. 22 through Sunday, Oct. 25 in the Wood Auditorium at the Fine Arts Center of Kershaw County. Tickets to the production are $15 for adults and $10 for students, seniors and military. "A Raisin in the Sun" is sponsored by Powers Funeral Home.

KCHS to feature author at October 25 meeting

An engaging author of a highly respected history of the American Revolution in the Carolinas will share stories at a meeting of the Kershaw County Historical Society (KCHS) Sunday, Oct. 25, at 3 p.m. in the South Building of the Kershaw County School District Office, 2029 W. DeKalb St., Camden.The meeting is open to the public, and guests will be welcomed.

FAC's Dancing With the Stars a 4-way success

The votes were in, the judges had made their decision. It was a four-way tie. That's how the night was ending for the 3rd annual Dancing With the Stars FUNdraiser at the Fine Arts Center of Kershaw County. Four of the nine teams -- Larry DiBiase and Chelsea Kelly; Scott Rankin and Julianna Cobb; Georgia Patoulas and Andy Wright; and Johnny Kornegay and Alexis Kelley -- danced to win the Judges Technical Award for best dance but in the end, it was Larry DiBiase and Chelsea Kelly who took home the Judges Technical Award.

High school columnist reports on changes, issues at L-EHS

Over this past summer, Lugoff-Elgin High School had some major aesthetic outdoor improvements. A decorative walkway was added to get to the entrance door, flowers and grass were added in the front of the school, the awnings and doors were repainted and all of the parking lots got a fresh coat of paint.

CCCB Fall Concert on Sunday

The Camden Community Concert Band (CCCB) will have their fall concert on Sunday, Oct. 18 at Rectory Square Park beginning at 3 p.m. The concert is free and folks are encouraged to bring chairs or blankets to enjoy the performance. Selections for this concert include "National Emblem March," "Disney at the Movies," "The Genius of Ray Charles" and "Let It Go" featuring Bob Loryea on saxophone solo.

The Lugoff Garden Club meets Monday, Oct. 19 at 6:30 p.m. at the home of Mrs. Kathy Fuller on Hunter's Point Drive in Lugoff. The speaker will be Vicky Bertagnolli, the Consumer Horticulture Extension Agent/Master Gardener Coordinator for Aiken and Lexington counties. Sam Kendall’s opens outdoor dining area

Sam Kendall's -- located on 1043 Broad Street, Camden -- opened an outdoor dining area last Wednesday giving restaurant patrons the option of enjoying meals viewing downtown Camden. The iron enclosure was installed by Midlands Tooling in Lugoff by David Woolward. Sam Kendall's owner Jonathon Bazinet said that having the dining area was something he has wanted to do for years and was inspired by restaurant dining areas in Chicago. L-EHS’ movie night to benefit flood victims

Saturday, Lugoff-Elgin High School (L-EHS) will host a movie night featuring Despicable Me 2 sponsored by Chick-fil-A of Camden. The movie will be held in the Lugoff-Elgin High School stadium or, in the case of bad weather, the L-EHS auditorium. Gates open at 6 p.m. and the movie will begin at 7 p.m., or as lighting permits.
