Fine Arts Center annual meeting September 10

The Fine Arts Center of Kershaw County (FAC) will hold its Annual Meeting on Thursday, Sept. 10 at 6 p.m. in the Jim & Pat Watts Performing Arts Wing and Shull Pavilion. Donors, friends, participants and volunteers are invited to gather as the Center reviews its accomplishments in 2014-2015 and announces the FAC's 41st year.

Auditions for “A Raisin in the Sun” start Tuesday

Auditions for the fall Camden Community Theatre production of Lorraine Hansberry's drama, A Raisin in the Sun will be held at the Fine Arts Center of Kershaw County (FAC,) Tuesday, September 1 and Wednesday, September 2 at 6 p.m. in the Wood Auditorium. A Raisin in the Sun is known as a "pivotal play in the history of the American Black theatre," by Newsweek magazine. The production will be held October 22-25 in the Wood Auditorium at the FAC.

Lugoff teen wins title of World’s Teen Miss Tourism 2015

Cassandra Grace Gibson of Lugoff recently brought home the National title of World's Teen Miss Tourism 2015. She was crowned Aug. 2 in Clarksville, Tenn. Her division included nine teens aged 16-18 from Tennessee, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Virginia and Mississippi. She also won the titles of Miss Cover Model and Most Photogenic. Prizes awarded included two trophies, three crowns, three banners, a full length fur coat, jewelry and hair care and makeup products. The World's Tourism pageant is held annually in July. Camden Writers creative workshop September 26

The Camden Writers will host a creative writing workshop on Saturday, Sept. 26 from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Central Carolina Technical College, 1125 Little Street in Camden. Bob Strother, a seasoned South Carolina author, will deliver the keynote address. FAC Arts Open House & Hot Dog Lunch Aug. 29

The Fine Arts Center (FAC) of Kershaw County will host its 2015 Arts Open House & Hot Dog Lunch on Saturday, August 29 from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. on the FAC grounds. Hosted by the FAC Multi-Cultural Committee, the event is free and the public is invited to attend. Participate in a fun community art project, take a tour of the FAC, enjoy pottery, dance and music demonstrations, plus some entertainment. Register for classes and meet some of the FAC's teachers.
