Palm Sunday Walk in Camden

James Leroy Belk American Legion Post No. 17 is seeking applications for Palmetto Boys State to be held June 8-14 at Anderson University. Alvin and Joanne Hopkins recently celebrated 50 years of marriage. The couple was married on March 21, 1964, at the home of the Rev. Joe Hood. They have two children, Wesley (BK) Hopkins and Lynn (Jackie) Hopkins; two grandchildren, William Hopkins and Justin Hopkins, two step-grandchildren, Lauren Langford and Josh Napper; and one step-greatgrandchild, Vance Langford.

Community invited to ‘Active and Healthy Easter Egg Hunt’

Let's Move Camden and Kershaw County is having the first annual "Active and Healthy Easter Egg Hunt" on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the lot next to the Farmer's Market in Camden (corner of Rutledge and Church Streets) for kids aged three to eight. Let's Move is the Michelle Obama federal program working against childhood obesity. Community members are encouraged to come join the fun time with Easter Egg Races and pictures with the Easter Bunny.

St. Timothy’s dedicates day to serving Kershaw County charities

Saturday, Saint Timothy's Lutheran Church participated in Operation Inasmuch, a day of service celebrated each spring by congregations of Lutheran churches in South Carolina. The effort is inspired by the teachings of Jesus in Matthew 25 that "inasmuch as we serve the least of these we serve Him."

The Cheer Invasion All-stars (CIA) invaded Myrtle Beach last weekend! CIA, the competitive cheer team from Spirit Athletics in Lugoff, attended a National cheerleading competition in Myrtle Beach, March 21-23. All four of Spirit Athletics' teams came home with a national title.

Margaret Lloyd ‘Celebration of Life’ to be held at FAC Sunday

Margaret Lloyd moved with her husband, Richard W. Lloyd, to Camden in the early 1950's and both embraced the community. They donated land and buildings for the community center (Price House), the Fine Arts Center (FAC) of Kershaw County (Douglas-Reed Building) and the nucleus of what became the Historic Camden Revolutionary War Site. The family is planning a small memorial garden at the FAC to honor both of their parents.
