Four seniors make debut at Cotillion

Camden's local chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. hosted its Third Annual Debutante Cotillion, Crimson & Pearls: Impacting Lives with Grace and Elegance, on May 20 at the Historic Robert Mills Courthouse in Camden, South Carolina. Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. is a private, non-profit organization whose purpose is to provide assistance and support through established programs in local communities throughout the world. This year, the local chapter of the sorority is proud to celebrate 30 years of service, scholarship and sisterhood to Camden and surrounding communities.

Students from DJJ to speak Thursday

The St. Matthew Community Center Summer Camp Program located at 1207 Black River Road, Camden, will feature students from the South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ), Columbia on Thursday, June 28 at 10 a.m. The public is cordially invited to attend this exciting and educational overview of life in the Department of Juvenile Justice system. The Rotary Club of Camden awarded its scholarships to graduating seniors from Camden High School (CHS), North Central High (NCH) and Camden Military Academy (CMA). Pancake breakfast held to raise money for Children’s Miracle Network

A pancake breakfast fundraiser will be held June 23 from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Fatz Cafe in Camden. A breakfast and silent auction will be held to support the Children's Miracle Network and Miss Lancaster Teen Hanna Bowers, a Camden native. Tickets are $7 and include pancakes, sausage links, maple syrup, butter mixed fruit and a drink. To purchase advance tickets, call Bowers at 272-2304 or email her at abowers@comporium.net.

Show of Support

The first "True Dog and Pony Show" was held at the South Carolina Equine Park on Saturday, June 2. The weather was perfect and everywhere you looked there was an adorable dog or an amazing horse. The food was delicious, many cool vendors participated and a good time was had by all who came out to support the building and renovation of the new Walter M. Crowe Animal Shelter.

Quilts of Valor honors 5 Kershaw County veterans

Five Kershaw County veterans received quilts in the Douglas Reed House at the Fine Arts Center (FAC) of Kershaw County this week. The Kershaw County Quilters branch of the Quilts of Valor Foundation recognized the veterans for their service in conflicts dating back to the Korean War.
