Confederate Memorial Day service Sunday

Camden's first Confederate Memorial Day during the Civil War Sesquicentennial will be on Sunday at 12:30 p.m., at the "Confederate Unknown's Plot", in Quaker Cemetery, Camden. Mr. Edward Westbury will be the guest speaker and it is hosted by the John D. Kennedy Chapter #308, UDC and the Joseph B. Kershaw Camp #82, SCV. A fundraiser for "A Warrior's Stance," a community outreach program created to change the lives of Kershaw County youth through arts, drama and dramatic dance, will be held May 5 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Passages, located at 607 Rutledge St. A Warrior's Stance was founded by Marney L. The Camden branch of the Kershaw County Library offered a class to Central Carolina students on how to use the library's resources. Above, Clemi Winestock's College Skills 103 class gets a tour of the library by Cris Wilson, reference and adult service librarian. Community Medical Clinic hosts annual horse ride fundraiser

The second annual horse ride to benefit the Community Medical Clinic of Kershaw County will be held on Saturday, May 7 (rain date, Sunday, May 8). The ride is sponsored by Horsepower of the Midlands (a counseling center for people that offers both traditional and equine assisted counseling).
