Camden ART fall show opens at the Fine Arts Center of Kershaw County

Camden ART (formerly Camden Art Association) will open its fall show in the Bassett Gallery at the Fine Arts Center of Kershaw County (FAC) today with a reception from 5:30 to 7 p.m. just prior to the Edward Arron & Friends Chamber Music concert. Light hors d'ouevres and a cash bar will be available. The opening reception is sponsored by First Community Bank. The Camden ART exhibit will be on display in the Bassett Gallery until Jan. 18, 2013.

Garden Girls tree dedication

Nov. 28, the Gardening Girls Study Club celebrated Arbor Day by planting a Ginkgo tree in front of the Kershaw County Library. Reverend Barnhill gave the invocation and benediction for the tree dedication, and State Sen. Vincent Sheheen spoke about his growing up in Camden. Amy Schofield, director of Kershaw County Library, was excited to receive the tree. "We are honored to have this tree planted here ... We are going to take good care of it," said Schofield. The Hospital Auxiliary’s Lights of Love returns this holiday season

The KershawHealth Hospital Auxiliary's annual Lights of Love fund raising project began on Nov. 15 and continues through New Year's Day. Donations to Lights of Love permit area residents to acknowledge or honor those who have been significant in their lives.

KC Women to Women 35th annual Christmas luncheon

Monday, the Kershaw County Women to Women Bible Study will be having their 35th Annual Christmas Luncheon. This Interdenominational group of ladies has been meeting for 35 years to study the Bible together. The group represents a blend of several different denominations and our teacher is Rev. Patrice Davis from St. Matthew Baptist Church in Lugoff.

Edward Arron & Friends chamber music series coming to the FAC of Kershaw County

KC Headstart donates to Food For the Soul

Monday, Kershaw County Headstart donated more than 100 items to Food for the Soul. Headstart's staff, children and parents had the community project to collect needed supplies for Food for the Soul. Headstart's Male Involvement Committee was also involved in the supply drive.

Brevard scholarship winners announced

he Camden Music Association (CMA) and the Fine Arts Center of Kershaw County (FAC) announce the winners of the 2015 Brevard Music Competition. This year's competition was held at Lyttleton Street United Methodist Church where 13 students competed for scholarships to further their musical endeavors. The competition and recital is sponsored by Sibby Wood in honor of her mother, Margaret Beckley Upton.

Historic Camden's Armies Through Time

Hundreds of people visited Historic Camden Revolutionary War Site last Saturday to learn about warfare through the ages. Guests got to interact with warriors from Ancient Greek wars, Medieval wars, 19th Century wars, World War I, World War II and the Vietnam War. Different stations were set up that featured artifacts, costumes and camps from different wars.
