Reading with Dr. Seuss

Students, staff, and parents at Lugoff Elementary recently enjoyed a parade to celebrate the books of Dr. Seuss. Classes chose a Seuss book, made a banner, and dressed as the characters to march in the parade. Pictured above is Lugoff Elementary School teacher Mrs. Williamson's Kindergarten class.

United Way of Kershaw County thanks contributors at campaign Luncheon

The United Way of Kershaw County (UWKC) hosted a luncheon to recognize volunteers and contributors from this year's campaign. The money raised will benefit the numerous UWKC partner agencies that serve Kershaw County. During the luncheon, representatives from each campaign division were recognized and thanked for their work during this campaign season. The Boys and Girls Club Step Team, the Kershaw County Diamonds, performed during the event.

A few years ago, Johnny Fellers, owner of Fellers Furniture in Camden, was exploring a craft show when he came across a man making pens. Transfixed, Fellers said he watched the artisan carefully coax these beautiful creations out of blocks of largely nondescript materials.

Habitat ReStore auctions doll house

The Habitat ReStore is auctioning off a doll house to assist building houses for families in need in Kershaw County. The doll house and its' furniture were hand made by Marion and Bill Tripp of Camden in the 1980s. The needlepoint rugs in the house were made by their sister. To see and bid on the house visit the Habitat Store at 1019 Broad Street, Camden. Submit bids at the register, bids start at $250. The auction will last until Feb. 28.
