NCMS holds Miss Patriot Pageant

On Friday, Feb. 25, under the direction of Rebecca Greenway and Jodie Kahler, North Central Middle School held its annual Miss Patriot Pageant. This year's theme was Under the Sea. Each contestant was judged and scored in three areas:

DAR held scholarship luncheon

The Hobkirk Hill Chapter for the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) held it's scholarship luncheon earlier this month at Springdale Hall Club in Camden. The proceeds from the luncheon will go toward a DAR scholarship for a Kershaw County woman studying history, political science or a related field.

Camden Belk to host Spring Kidfest with fashion show

Belk in Camden will host the Belk Spring Kidfest on April 9th from noon to 4 p.m. The event will feature local children in a spring fashion show at 1 p.m. The show will be emceed by Jane Peterson from the Fine Arts Center of Kershaw County. Tom Sorrells from Camden Mobile Music will be the DJ.

Local churches repair 15 homes

The Weatherization and Repair Ministry (WARM) completed it's latest project on Dec. 30-31. The 140 volunteers worked together to repair 15 homes in Kershaw County. Celebrating 50 years together

Mr. and Mrs. James L. Hough celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on January 30th, 2011 with a barbecue at their home. Lloyd and Ann were married January 28, 1961. Finally Friday returns to FAC

LeGrand Institute practices fire safety

Students at the LeGrand Institute of Cosmetology in Camden received a lesson on fire safety at a recent event at the campus. Assistant Fire Chief Eddie Gardner came out to the school and taught students how to use a fire extinguisher. Hayes Creek Skateboarding Competition

There will be a skateboarding competition Saturday at 9:30 a.m. in the Hayes Creek Subdivision in Elgin. The event is sponsored by Salty's Board Shop in Columbia.
