A diaper drive is being held at local businesses in the Camden area to benefit Sistercare, a partner agency with United Way that provides services for battered women and children. Boxes are set up at Newman's Furniture, Atlas Gym, Carolina Cafe and the Kershaw County Chamber of Commerce. The drive will end at the close of business on Feb. 12. Post 17 contest chairman Richard Lackey congratulates Daniel Northcutt as post-level scholarship winner of the American Legion High School Oratorical Contest. Northcutt, a home-schooled junior, will represent Post 17 at the Zone Four contest to be held in Camden Feb. 19. The winners of the four zone contests will compete at the state level. State winners earn a trip to Indianapolis to vie for the national title which carries an $18,000 scholarship award.

Former Camdenite Manda McKay's painting "Love You To Death" won "Best In Show" at Southworks 2013. The Oconee County Arts Foundation (OCAF) hosted the opening reception April 12 in Watkinsville, Georgia. McKay grew up in Camden and graduated from Camden High School.
