J.W. and Elizabeth Barrett celebrated their 50th anniversary at a drop-in hosted by their sons and daughter-in-law Johnny Barrett and Paul and Hope Barrett, on Sunday, May 19 at St. John United Methodist Church Fellowshipp Hall at Springhill in Lee County.

Habitat for Humanity and United Way will be having a Warehouse Sale Saturday. The sale will run from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. and will be located in the United Way parking lot at 110 East DeKalb St. in Camden. Items include furniture, household items, TVs and building supplies. Items are priced to sell.

Happy Birthday to Mrs. Sarah B. Rutherford who will be celebrating her 95th birthday June 8. Mrs. Rutherford, the wife of the late Roosevelt Rutherford Sr. is a life-long resident of Cassatt where she attended the public schools of Kershaw County. Mrs. Rutherford is well-known and loved in her community and is also a life-time member of the Hyco Baptist Church. The mother of nine children, Mrs. Rutherford has been blessed so far to see five generations that resulted from her union with Mr. Rutherford. The Rev. Iris E. Kennedy, Pastor of Zion Hill A.M.E. Zion Church brings to the community a gospel play presented by The Kennedy Production. The play is called "I Can't Give Up Now" and will have two showings on Saturday. The show will take place at 4 and 7 p.m. in the Fine Arts Center's Wood Auditorium located at 810 Lyttleton St. in Camden.
