West Wateree Rotary to host antique road show
Have you ever wondered what your old trinkets and treasures may actually be worth? The West Wateree Rotary Club is offering a unique opportunity to the public on Feb. 26. For $25, anyone can have two items appraised by local experts Andy van Dam and Walter Slocum. Patty and John Ivy from Laurens will also be on site to offer appraisals.
King Haiglar Garden Club to meet Monday
The February meeting of the King Haiglar Garden Club will be held on Monday at 3:30 p.m. Jan Tilford will host the meeting at 1709 Mill St., Camden. Carol Meckstroth and Mary Achen will co-host the event. Members are encouraged to invite guests and friends.
Clowning around
The circus is coming to town! Children in the 2-year-old class at Grace Church Kindergarten and Preschool had lots of fun learning about the circus last week. They enjoyed making their own clown outfits and circus lions! The clowns include (from left) Aiden Mathieu, Shane Ogburn, Reid McCoy, Alex Sandt, Mia Brockington, Landon Dickey, Aiken Curatola, and Thomas Bishop.
Lugoff-Elgin Girl Scout Troop kicks off cookie sales
Hello from your Elgin -Lugoff Girl Scout Troop No. 968. We are extremely pleased to share with everyone that another of our girls, Sarah Boykin, has reached her goal of earning the Silver Award. This is the highest girl scout award given to girls in grades 6 - 8. Sarah worked hard making treats and toys for the Walter M.Crowe Animal Shelter. She also spent a number of days this past summer volunteering at the shelter. We are all very proud of her.
Brevard Music Scholarship winners announced
The annual Brevard Music Scholarship Competition was hosted on Saturday, Feb. 5, 2011. LES still accepting vendors for ‘Shopping For A Cure’ fundraiser
On March 26, Lugoff Elementary will host "Shopping For A Cure," a fundraiser for Relay For Life of Kershaw County. The event will last from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at LES, located at 994 Ridgeway Rd., Lugoff. Vendors are still being accepted to participate in their Shopping For A Cure fundraiser. Camden diaper drive to benefit Sistercare
A diaper drive is being held at local businesses in the Camden area to benefit Sistercare, a partner agency with United Way that provides services for battered women and children. Boxes are set up at Newman's Furniture, Atlas Gym, Carolina Cafe and the Kershaw County Chamber of Commerce. The drive will end at the close of business on Feb. 12.
