The South Carolina Wildlife Federation and Clemson University have partnered to present the 2011 Midlands Master Naturalist course. Based out of Columbia, the six-week course will be held each Thursday and Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. starting May 5 and ending on June 10. The Miss Camden Pageant was held Saturday at Camden High School. The winners were (from left) Blythe Neal, Miss Camden Teen 2011; Sallie Pierce, Miss Camden 2011; and Carley Powers, first runner-up to Miss Camden. Neal is an 8th-grader at Camden Middle School. Pierce is a sophomore at the University of South Carolina. Both young ladies will be competing in the Miss South Carolina Pageant in Columbia June 28 through July 2.

Former Camdenite Manda McKay's painting "Love You To Death" won "Best In Show" at Southworks 2013. The Oconee County Arts Foundation (OCAF) hosted the opening reception April 12 in Watkinsville, Georgia. McKay grew up in Camden and graduated from Camden High School.
