This February will see big changes for library users in Kershaw County, when the county library joins South Carolina Libraries Sharing Resources, SC LENDS, a group of libraries that share a common catalog and library materials. The Camden Music Association, in conjunction with the Fine Arts Center of Kershaw County, announces the Brevard Music Scholarship Competition will be held Saturday, Feb. 5. With three different scholarship opportunities, winners will be awarded money toward further study or may spend the summer at the prestigious Brevard Summer Music Camp. The annual Girl Scout Cookie Sale Program, the $700 million, largest girl-led business in the country, is offering a new cookie and new packaging this year in South Carolina. There will be a skateboarding competition Saturday at 9:30 a.m. in the Hayes Creek Subdivision in Elgin. The event is sponsored by Salty's Board Shop in Columbia. The proceeds from the competition will go towards purchasing skateboarding gear for the park in an effort to keep kids off of drugs and keep them off of the streets.
