FAC to hold ‘Snow White’ auditions Sunday, Monday

Auditions for Snow White, a collaboration with the Fine Arts Center (FAC) of Kershaw County and Columbia Children's Theatre, will be held Jan. 16 and 17 in the Wood Auditorium at the FAC from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Snow White will be directed by Jerry Stevenson, artistic director of the Columbia Children's Theatre. All children ages 6 and up are encouraged to come and participate. There is no audition fee.

Camden Garden Club to host first meeting of new year

The Camden Garden Club will hold its next meeting on Monday at the home of Mrs. Nancy Langston. The house is a sprawling ranch with an open floorplan making it perfect for a meeting. The program this month is all about living with orchids. The speaker will be Mr. Stan Hutto who is the past president of the South Carolina Orchid Society.

King Haiglar Garden Club to meet Monday

The January meeting of the King Haiglar Garden Club will be held Monday at 3:30 p.m. Cathy Moss will host the group at 314 Chestnut Street, Camden. Marguerite Glascow and Nancy Wylie will co-host. Looking back on 2010

I have mixed feelings looking back over 2010. In some ways, yes, I'll admit I'm happy to welcome in a fresh year. Starting a new year with new goals can't be a bad thing. But while many of my peers are saying "good riddance" to the year 2010, I can't really agree. I've been fortunate enough to have many "firsts" that made 2010 solid for me.

MHAKC presents special awards at annual membership meeting

Mental Health America of Kershaw County held its 48th annual membership dinner meeting, Nov. 11, in the fellowship center at First Baptist in Camden. The speaker was John Brown, a mental health specialist and an Episcopal priest who is a chaplain with Columbia Area Mental Health Clinic. He was introduced by Richard Guess, executive director of Santee-Wateree Community Mental Health Center in Sumter.
