The Able Club of S.C. and Outback Steakhouse of Columbia announce "Surf's Up at Demon Bay, the second annual auction benefiting Lugoff-Elgin High School athletic programs, to be held at 6 p.m. March 4.
Auditions for Snow White, a collaboration with the Fine Arts Center (FAC) of Kershaw County and Columbia Children's Theatre, will be held Jan. 16 and 17 in the Wood Auditorium at the FAC from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Snow White will be directed by Jerry Stevenson, artistic director of the Columbia Children's Theatre. All children ages 6 and up are encouraged to come and participate. There is no audition fee.

I have mixed feelings looking back over 2010. In some ways, yes, I'll admit I'm happy to welcome in a fresh year. Starting a new year with new goals can't be a bad thing. But while many of my peers are saying "good riddance" to the year 2010, I can't really agree. I've been fortunate enough to have many "firsts" that made 2010 solid for me.
