Camden Garden Club meeting today

The Camden Garden Club will hold its next meeting today at the home of Sandy Shull. This is always a special meeting due to the time of year. It doesn't matter how old someone may be, there will be excitement and energy filling the air with the anticipation of Christmas. Jackson Elementary School dental screenings

Drs. Moss and Owen of Camden recently provided dental screenings for children at Jackson Elementary School. Above, Dr. Cathy Moss screens a young student. In two hours, the dentists were able to screen 500 children.

Community Medical Clinic of Kershaw County thanks volunteers

"The Community Medical Clinic (CMC) held a festive 15-year anniversary party on November 14 at the Fine Arts Center of Kershaw County. Four hundred community supporters were invited to a red carpet awards show. Their collective efforts represent a community resolve that has provided health care to more than 5,000 Kershaw County patients from 1998 to 2013. This event was a thank you to clinic volunteers who have unselfishly given their time and financial assistance.

Camden ART to host fall show at Fine Arts Center

Camden ART's annual fall show will be on exhibit at the Fine Arts Center (FAC) of Kershaw County beginning Friday and lasting until Jan. 16. A reception will be held Sunday from 2 to 3 p.m. in the Bassett Gallery coinciding with the annual performance of The Nutcracker. (The FAC is closed for Christmas break from Dec. 23 until Jan.) A special viewing of the show during this time can be arranged by calling the FAC at 425-7676.

The Camden Community Concert Band (CCCB) will present its annual Christmas concert on Sunday at the Performing Arts Center at Camden High School. The show begins at 3 p.m. and admission is free.

FAC searches for perfect dog

The Fine Arts Center (FAC) of Kershaw County is holding a poster contest to find the perfect dog to the "image" for the upcoming production of Bark! The Musical. Entries may be made online at www.fineartscenter.org or in person at the FAC office at 810 Lyttleton St. The entry fee is $5.

The Camden Junior Welfare League presents the 37th annual Candlelight Tour of Homes on Saturday from 3 to 8 p.m. The tour will begin at the Camden Archives and Museum, where tour programs will be available and tickets may be purchased. Tour programs include home and site descriptions, maps, merchant information, sponsors, and general League information.

The Bethune Lions Club recently held its "Peace Poster" contest.
