Breanna Cole cheers at ACC Bowl Game

Boykin Christmas parade finds community members out and about

The 20th anniversary Boykin Christmas Parade saw an estimated turnout of between 9,000-12,000 people. With clear skies and pleasant tailgating temperatures, community members were able to kick back, relax and enjoy the day. Holiday Toy Train Exhibit to open Saturday in Camden

At the close of the 19th century, a German named Marklin introduced several series of gauged toy train sets that included ready-to-use track sections, locomotives, cars and accessories, plus enticing add-on pieces for future Christmas and birthday gifts. Within two years, Lionel's first electric train was chugging around its track in holiday store windows beckoning all towards the magical world of toy trains.

Lakeside Ministries donates to local charities

Lakeside Ministries is an interdenominational worship service supported by Liberty Hill Presbyterian Church. Each summer, collections are donated back to the area communities through local charities. The amount of $3,729 was collected this year and divided among charities that help provide food, shelter, clothing, housing and medical care to community members in need.

Delta Sigma Theta has heart

The Camden Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. donated $1,000.00 to the Amari Williams' Hope for Healing Hearts Foundation. The donation will help the foundation continue its mission which is to save lives by educating the public about heart disease, promoting early detection and supporting cardiac research. ‘We Three’ musical ensemble to release first album this weekend

While Christmas is a busy and exciting time for most everyone, it's especially busy and exciting this year for Julia Halford, Phyllis David and Linda Higgins of the local musical ensemble,We Three. The trio will be performing at various Christmas singing events, both locally and out of town. Among those events will be several release parties for its first album Christmas Blessings. The group has release parties scheduled for Friday at Bend Dusty's and Saturday at New Horizons, both in Camden.

Lugoff Fire Department to escort Santa Claus through town

The Lugoff Fire Department (LFD) will have the honor of escorting Santa Claus through the neighborhoods in Lugoff again this year. Santa will be escorted through different areas of the Lugoff community each night. Lugoff firefighters enjoy this event each year so children can have the opportunity to see the "Jolly One" before he comes on Christmas night.

Book signing and live music coffeehouse

Local artist and gardener Brenda Konitzer will sign her new cookbook What's Cooking at Dry Branch Ranch? Saturday, 1:30 to 3 p.m. at Books on Broad at 944 Broad St, in Camden. Books will be available for purchase and autographing. Samples from some of the book's recipes, such as pumpkin bread, mushroom and onion dip and seafood pizza dip will be available.

H.L. Hunley submarine replica returning to Camden Archives

A 43-foot-long replica of the H.L. Hunley will return to the Camden Archives and Museum on Friday and Saturday. The replica last appeared in Camden in May 2012.

Santa Claus on the Town Green

The Camden Rotary Club will host its annual "Meet Santa on the Town Green" event after Saturday's Christmas parade in downtown Camden. Santa Claus will be available for pictures and giving out candy canes until 2 p.m. Community members are encouraged to come share those Christmas wishes with Santa Claus.
