Leslie M. Stover Middle School is starting a new tradition in honor of former teacher, Mike Rush called "Rush Week." Mr. Rush was an 8th grade Social Studies teacher who recently passed away in the summer of 2014. Students and staff who were lucky enough to know Mr. Rush, knew him as a kind, caring, and giving individual. He would do anything for his students and his colleagues.

While the Kershaw County School District employees were meeting at Lugoff-Elgin High School on Aug. 12, some of the retired faculty and staff members from Pine Tree Hill Elementary School (formerly on Lakeshore Drive) socialized at Hall's Restaurant in Lugoff.

Blaney Elementary's Principal, Mr. Ed Yount, is a man of his word. He challenged Blaney's teachers and students to raise $1500 for the United Way during the first week of school, and if the challenge was met, he would come to school dressed as a woman. As of Friday, August 22, $1530 was raised and Mr. Yount kept his promise by arriving on August 29th in costume.
