The United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) requires all of the Continuum of Care organizations who receive funding for homeless services and housing to attempt to find and survey individuals and families who are homeless in January of each year.

New Year for King Haiglar Garden Club

The King Haiglar Garden Club will start 2014 with many exciting programs and activities. The first meeting will be held on Monday at 3:30 p.m. Margie Lane will houst at 2301 Moultrie Road, in Camden. Taking the plunge

On Jan. 1, the Miss Lake Wateree Scholarship Organization hosted a Polar Bear Plunge at the Retreat at Colonel Creek on Lake Wateree. Participants plunged into the icy waters of Lake Wateree, competing for prizes such as biggest splash, best costumes and biggest charitable contribution.

Local churches combine efforts for W.A.R.M.

Several local churches recently combined their efforts to achieve a project known as W.A.R.M. (Weatherization And Repair Ministry). The initiative was begun in 1989 by Richard and Sara Hagins of Camden. The Hagins were and still are members of Lyttleton Street United Methodist Church, and they along with other church members began repairing homes in the community, especially those damaged by Hurricane Hugo.
