CGC meets Monday

The Camden Garden Club will hold its next meeting on February 8th in the dining hall on the third floor of the Karesh Wing at Kershaw County Medical Center. This has been a long standing club project and the residents really love it and look forward to it! It's a great way to spread joy and love with Valentine's Day right around the corner.

Pinedale Residential Center residents and volunteers donated blankets to New Day on Mill. Residents included Jean Ogburn, Cathy Davis and Betty Hollis. Volunteers included Carolyn Johnson. The project sponsor was Mary Kay Olive of Agape Health and the Program Director was Janice Branham.

Camden ART to host noted photographer

At its February meeting, Camden ART, an affiliate member of the Fine Arts Center of Kershaw County will host nationally known photographer Jerome De Perlinghi. The meeting will take place in the Bassett Gallery at the FAC Monday, Feb. 1 at 7 p.m. The public is invited to attend free of charge. Any guests who would like to join Camden ART may do so at this meeting for a discounted membership fee of $10. This will allow them to meet the membership requirement to exhibit their art in the upcoming exhibit scheduled for May

Strong cast brings “Little Shop of Horrors”to life

A strong cast of singer-actors brings sci-fi rock musical "Little Shop of Horrors" to life this weekend in the Wood Auditorium at the Fine Arts Center of Kershaw County. Director Jami Steele, the FAC's director of education and theater, brings out the best in the 20 performers, including newcomers and seasoned actors, for this Camden Community Theater production.

Belle of the Ball event underway

The Camden Junior Welfare League will be holding its Annual Belle of the Ball Event in February. Belle of the Ball started as a project for the league's provisional members and has become a CJWL tradition. Each year before prom time, the CJWL gathers and sorts donated formal dresses and then offers them for free to needy teens referred by area high schools. Local businesses also help support BOTB by offering complimentary services for raffle prizes including hair and nail salon services, dress alterations and dry cleaning, restaurant gift certificates, and sunless tanning. Miss Gold and Black to be held Feb. 6

The Miss Gold and Black and Junior Miss Gold and Black pageant will be held on Saturday, Feb. 6 at 7 p.m. in the Camden High Auditorium. Twenty-three young ladies will participate in the event which is a fundraiser project for the Camden Bulldog Club. Tickets are $10 and may be purchased from any contestant or at the school beginning Monday, Feb. 1. The pageant's theme is "Pretty Women Everywhere." KOC free throw contest Saturday

All boys and girls ages 9 to 14 are invited to participate in the local level of competition for the 2016 Knights of Columbus Free Throw Championship at the Camden Rhame City Arena on Broad Street. Pitchforks return Feb. 5 to the FAC

The Fine Arts Center of Kershaw County (FAC) announces the return of the popular all-male a cappella group, The Pitchforks of Duke University to the Wood Auditorium stage. The concert will take place Friday, February 5 at 8 p.m. Tickets are on sale now and are $10 for adults and $5 for students. The audience will enjoy covers of both old and new pop music. The Pitchforks have just released their newest album, Camden Town, which will be available for purchase the evening of the performance. The Pitchforks concert is made possible by Bob Sheheen.
