Camden Community Concert Band Christmas concert

The Camden Community Concert Band (CCCB) will present their Christmas concert this Sunday at 3 p.m. at Camden High School. The concert is free and open to the public. The CCCB is in its 36th year of presenting music to the Camden and Kershaw County area. The band has four concerts per year – two in Rectory Square Park and two at Camden High School. Associate conductor Robert Wertz will direct the band during most of the concert with assistance from other band members. Thursday, Fine Arts Center presents Edward Arron & Friends

Edward Arron & Friends will perform in the Kershaw County Fine Arts Center's Wood Auditorium for the second concert of the three-part Chamber Music Series Thursday at 7 p.m. The concert will feature selections by Mozart, Gustav, Musto, and Fauré. Tickets are $30 in advance and $35 the day of the concert, with a student ticket for $15.

Food Donation

Pinedale Residential Center along with Embrace and Agape Hospice partnered up this Thanksgiving to help Food for the Soul with a large donation. Boykin Christmas Parade

The annual Boykin Christmas parade will be held Sunday, Dec. 20 at 2 p.m. The parade, known for its out of the ordinary and quirky floats, began 22 years ago. "I said, 'One of these years we should have a Christmas parade.' Bill Bundy said why not this year? This was at the Swift Creek Church at a community meeting," parade organizer Alice Boykin said. A Gospel Concert will follow the parade and will feature local church choirs from Broomhill, St. Stephen's and other churches.

Kershaw County seeks child advocates, training to begin in Jan.

Chldren who enter the foster care system are in need of caring adults to speak up for them in Family Court. The Guardian ad Litem is a strong child advocate for children. Advocates must be over 21 years old and be able to give four to five hours a month to visit a child. Volunteers do not need to have a college degree, or a legal or social work background. The very best child advocates are people who care about children.

FAC to host hometown comedian

The Fine Arts Center of Kershaw County will bring a night of great, family-friendly and clean comedy to the stage of the Wood Auditorium on Friday, December 4, 2015 at 7p.m. Mike Goodwin, known for his fresh, clean humor will perform his "Bowtie Comedy" show for one night only. Tickets to the event are $15.
