Lem and Nancy Wooten are celebrating their 60th anniversary on March 25. They were married on Easter Sunday, 1951.
Mr. and Mrs. James L. Hough celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on January 30th, 2011 with a barbecue at their home. Lloyd and Ann were married January 28, 1961. In addition to the barbecue, they will also celebrate with a trip in the spring to Asheville, N.C. with their three sons; Tony, Chris, and Michael; their daughter-in-laws and grandchildren.

Dr. Camisha Hayes Williams announced the establishment of a $500 book scholarship in memory of her mother, Beverly Hayes Brown, on Feb. 26. Brown was a strong supporter of her community and believed all children should have access to quality education. It is fitting that this scholarship has been endowed in her memory to advance the future of a high school student seeking higher education. On Feb. 17 the Downtown Camden Guild hosted the second annual Downtown Divas Go Red for Women's Heart Health Month event. Nearly 100 women participated in the tour of downtown businesses, which included free health screenings provided by KershawHealth hospital. The event was spearheaded by Jennifer Shaw and Gail Carter of First Community Bank.

Gene Faulkenberry, director of the Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC), visited the Kershaw County Amateur Radio Club's November meeting. Director Faulkenberry gave a brief history on the large scale emergencies that he has seen during his time with Kershaw County. He highlighted Hurricane Hugo in 1989, the train derailment in 1990 and the flooding that occurred when many ponds were breached after heavy rains in 1991.
