Matt Autrey Project takes stage for Finally Friday

The Fine Arts Center (FAC) of Kershaw County will present the last Finally Friday Free Concert of the season on Friday from 6 to 8:30 p.m. The season finale will feature The Matt Autrey Project. Finally Friday will take place at the Shull Pavilion located behind the Wood Auditorium on the grounds of the FAC. The Finally Friday Free Concert Series is sponsored by Duke Energy, NBSC, Alpine Agency, Graham Realty, Fellers Furniture Company, Gadgets of Camden and City Laundry & Cleaners.

KCMA elects new officers

The Kershaw County Music Association (KCMA) recently held its annual general membership meeting at the Fine Arts Center (FAC) of Kershaw County. Helen Walker was named as President with other leaders elected as follows: President-elect, Jackie Strong; vice president, Barbara James; secretary, Fiona Greenwood; communications secretary, Heidi Adongo; treasurer, Linda Higgins; publicity director, Mary Ellen Jordan.

Revolutionary Run slated for September

It will be a race through history to preserve history, when hundreds of runners take part in Camden's very first half marathon race in the upcoming Revolutionary Run Half Marathon (www.RevRunSC.com). Scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 23, the USATF certified half marathon race course through South Carolina's oldest inland city covers eight of Camden's nine touring districts and passes by nearly 50 historical sites.

Chick-fil-A Scholars

Chick-Fil-A of Camden employees were awarded $17,500 in scholarships from Chick-Fil-A Corporate. Receiving a $2,500 scholarship are (from left) Tyler Matthews, Lugoff-Elgin High School (L-EHS) attending the University of South Carolina (USC); Abby Baytes, Camden High School attending Clemson; Victoria Roberts, L-EHS attending USC; Madison McKim, L-EHS attending USC; Whitney Ramsey, Crestwood High attending Francis Marion University; Ryan McRoy, L-EHS attending Central Carolina Technical College; and Chris Wilder L-E High attending Charleston Southern. Scholarships were based on GPA, community service hours and operator recommendations.
