New pet adoption center grand opening Oct. 10

The Thiel-Meyer Animal Adoption Center has grown from a dream to a reality. The late Judy Thiel, who served as Kershaw County Humane Society's Board president, and Austin Meyer, a Columbia native and developer of the flight simulator X-Plane, set this project in motion three years ago and the shelter is ready for business. A grand opening celebration will be held Saturday, Oct. 10 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

ARF, FFAR and animal shelter team up to give dogs a second chance

Forty-six foster and shelter dogs got a second chance at finding a forever home Friday afternoon thanks to a collaboration of the Animal Rescue Fund (ARF) of the Hamptons, N.Y.; Fostering Foster Animal Rescue (FFAR) of Camden and Kershaw County's Walter M. Crowe Animal Shelter.
