Evans Kellogg Whiting, 73, died early Sunday morning, May 6, after a fall from his roof in Kailua, HI. He had been photographing the full moon. EK was born September 8, 1938, in Asheville, NC, and moved to Camden in the fall of 1948. He graduated Camden High School with the class of 1957. Tommie Rye Downey Pylant died January 25, 2015 after a short illness. She was 100 years old. Born on July 6, 1914 in Hohenwald, TN, she was the daughter of James R. and Ethel D. Downey. She was the secretary to the Headmaster at Camden Military Academy for many years. The Academy named a residence on the campus 'Pylant House' in honor of her service to the School. She was an active member of the McRae Road Church of Christ for over 50 years.
Mary Hazel Ray Few, 79, of Liberty Hill passed away Tuesday morning, January 27th, nearly a year of the death of her husband, William Eugene "Coach Bill" Few who passed February 6th, 2014. Hazel is survived by sons Martin Alan, Gerald Stephen, Joel Brian, Timothy Scott, Christopher Todd, and daughter Dr. Suzanne Quinn. Bill and Hazel also have a deceased son William Eugene. Her surviving grandchildren are Chip, Brooke, Todd, Derek, Billy, Jesse, Justin, Stephen, Anna, Bobby, Timothy, Stephanie, Jouji, Madie and three great grandchildren Trent, Indee, and Leon.
