He was born on November 28, 1943 in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada to Roy and Irene Winch. He married Laura Jane Chapman of Lancaster, South Carolina on September 20, 1964. Barrie joined the U.S. Army in January 1960 and served two tours in Vietnam where he was awarded three Bronze Star Medals and numerous other awards and decorations. William Gamewell (Bill) Major, Jr., 92, of Camden, SC, passed away on Sunday, July 20, 2014. He was the son of the late William Gamewell Major, Sr. and Alma (Baby) Muldrow-Major of Camden. Born in Florence, S.C. Mr. Major moved to Camden as a youth in 1935. He was the 1st Boy Scout in Kershaw County to be awarded the rank of Eagle Scout.
