Everette Coates died March 10, 2012 at White Oak Manor in Lancaster; SC. Born April 10, 1922, he was the second child of the late Mamie Robinson Coates and Dexter Hardin Coates. He is survived by a daughter, Jennifer Jewett (Mike) of Lancaster and a sister Robbie Coates Gardner, of Columbia. He was predeceased by his sister, Juanita Gordon, his wife of 68 years, Myra Huntley Coates, and a brother who died in infancy.

He was the son of the late John Furman and Susie McKee Holcomb. He retired as a car salesman and attended Oak Ridge Baptist Church. Mr. Holcomb enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He also served his county in the United States Army.
