For the past four seasons, when the Camden High volleyball team convened for pre-season practice, they may as well have spent a half-day designing a conference championship T-shirt. That was how certain it was that the Lady Bulldogs were going to win the Region 6-AAA title.
There are those who look back at last season's opening game --- in which Camden led host Spring Valley, 16-7, with less than five minutes to play only to lose a 20-16 decision --- as the turning point in what spiraled into a 2-8 season.
As if having a completely rebuilt defense was not enough of a challenge for the Camden coaching staff, Crestwood compounded that problem and shred the Bulldogs on that side of the football in a 22-0 victory in the final game of Friday's 37th annual Camden Shrine Club Football Jamboree.
All prospective junior varsity and ninth grade football players at Camden High School who would like to play for either of those teams are asked to attend an organizational meeting on Thursday, Aug. 9 starting at 5 p.m. in the Commons Area located inside the CHS gym.
The Camden High School Bulldog Club Membership Drive is in full swing for the 2012-2013 school year. The organization, founded in 1952, provides financial assistance to all athletic programs at the school through the membership drive and various fundraising activities.
