KCC tables penny sales tax

Kershaw County Council effectively killed a county-wide penny sales tax proposal Tuesday set to be considered by voters this November. Members unanimously voted, 6-0, to table second reading of the plan, which according to County Attorney Ken Dubose pushed the timetable for approval by the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) beyond a recommended deadline.

Rescue group does more thanks to grants

Animal Rescue & Sanctuary is pleased to announce the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals' (ASPCA) sponsorship through a grant award of $1,000 in support of its equine program. KCC provides property for new Lugoff playground

A group of concerned parents presented a proposal to council at its meeting Tuesday. Sewer utility seeks county council approval for permit

An Elgin-based wastewater treatment utility is hoping Kershaw County Council will sign off on a permit request filed with the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) to allow the discharge of treated sewage into nearby Spears Creek.
