The Walter M. Crowe Animal Shelter in Camden recently received a major donation. George Sensor donated a van to the shelter to transport animals to veterinary facilities, foster homes and to other shelter facilities and rescue groups where the animals may be adopted.
Property owners with land around Lake Wateree may be receiving good news, thanks to a recent study commissioned by Kershaw and Fairfield counties finding the base flood elevation for the lake is higher than needed. The lake lies in both counties.
Camden High School and the Kershaw County Recreation Department are hosting the Michael Kohn Baseball Camp on December 14, 1-4 p.m.. The camp will be held at the American Legion Baseball Field and is open for children ages 7-14. The old CLC gym will be the back up location in the event of bad weather. The cost is $25.
Kershaw County is in good financial condition, according to the annual audit of the county books by the accounting firm Sheheen, Hancock & Godwin. The firm's Mark Wood presented the audit summary at Kershaw County Council's meeting Tuesday. Wood said the audit was completed earlier than usual this year at the county's request so it would be concluded before newly-elected Council Chairman Julian Burns and Councilman Dennis Arledge take office in January.
