Kershaw County Council will appoint three new members to the KershawHealth Board of Trustees at Tuesday's meeting. At a special Sept. 3 work session, council interviewed 12 of the 13 remaining candidates. The last candidate was not present, but provided written answers to council's questions.

Tap, Jazz, Ballet, and Baton classes will be offered starting September 4 at the Kershaw County Recreation Department for ages 2 and up. Kim Forrest is the instructor bringing over 34 years of experience in the dancing field. Classes will be on Wednesdays starting at 4 p.m. with the fee being $42 a month. Classes are taught in combination.

Haile Gold Mine restart could benefit county

Could the pending restart of mining operations at Lancaster County's Haile Gold Mine benefit Kershaw County? While environmental concerns are being expressed in and around the town of Kershaw, and environmental benefits may come through wetlands mitigation near the mine and in lower Richland County, Kershaw County leaders are looking at a potential positive impact to the local economy.

Lake Wateree above full pond for third time

Officials with Duke Energy forecast that Lake Wateree will be "above full pond" (100 feet) today, the third time it has made such a prediction this summer. Charlotte, N.C., and the region has experienced locally heavy rainfall, with high flows coming into Lake Wylie from the South Fork River, officials said in a press release Monday.
