March to end sexual violence and child abuse held in Camden

County council looks at upcoming budget

Kershaw County Council and staff have started the annual task of crafting the county budget, which goes into effect July 1. Council held a workshop meeting Tuesday in which Kershaw County Administrator Vic Carpenter presented a proposed general fund budget $280,907 less than the current $22.99 million budget for Fiscal Year 2015 that ends June 30.

In late 1989, a group of concerned Lake Wateree property owners and residents banded together and formed the Lake Wateree Association (LWA). The group celebrated its 25th annual meeting April 11. Johnny Deal -- former banker, "Mr. Camden" and "Mr. Facebook" -- received the United Way of Kershaw County's (UWKC) highest honor Tuesday night: the Jake Watson Award. The award honors an individual who has continued Watson's legacy of volunteer service. The annual recognition dinner took place at TenEleven Galleria.
