Man dies of heat stroke

A county man died of heatstroke on July 10, according to a press release from Kershaw County Coroner David West. In the press release, West said George James "Jimmy" Clark, 77, of Williams Road, Camden, died of heat stroke.

Lugoff man arrested for attempted murder

A 30-year-old Lugoff man is in jail on three counts of attempted murder after allegedly firing several shots into a car, injuring two of the three people inside. The shooting took place at the Trinity Apartments on Church Street in Camden late Thursday morning.

BRWC gets $156,648 grant for generators

Bethune Rural Water Company Inc. (BRWC), a private non-profit water distribution company located in northeastern Kershaw County, recently received Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP) funds through the S.C. Emergency Management Division (SCEMD) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). The grant will provide 75 percent, or $156,648, toward a total cost of $208,864 to install one permanent diesel-powered, standby generator at each of four BRWC well sites. Head-on collision claims two lives

A two-vehicle head on collision on Flat Rock Road around 2:30 p.m. Friday claimed the lives of two Lancaster County people. The drivers of both vehicles were pronounced dead at the scene, according to Kershaw County Coroner David West.
