Kershaw County Sheriff's Office (KCSO) deputies arrested a Columbia man on seven assault, drug and weapons charges Friday. According to a KCSO press release, Leon Antwaun Crosby, 34, of Locust Road, Columbia, was out on bond on similar charges out of Richland County when Kershaw County deputies arrested him.

A Kershaw County Sheriff's Office (KCSO) deputy arrested two 27-year-old Camden men the night of Dec. 12 on several charges after the driver failed to dim the white Toyota Camry's high beam headlights as they drove past the deputy in the opposite direction on Black River Road.

Kershaw County Sheriff's Office (KCSO) Sgt. Kyle Hewitt, his wife, Katie, and their four sons attended the department's annual Christmas party Dec. 12 at the Kershaw County Government Center. According to colleagues, Hewitt had been told to attend the gathering not merely for the camaraderie with fellow officers and their families, but because one of the fellow deputies on his shift was being named Deputy of the Year by the Kershaw County Sheriff's Foundation (KCSF).

Charles Hughes Chandler, a 7-year-old boy reported missing by his grandfather just before Thanksgiving is now in the custody of his paternal grandmother in New Hampshire. According to Kershaw County Sheriff's Office (KCSO) Capt. Steve Knafelc, the boy's grandmother took custody of Charles on Thursday.

During the early morning hours Thursday, Kershaw County Sheriff's Office (KCSO) narcotics investigators arrested James Clerf Javins, 41, of Roberts Drive, Elgin, after they discovered nearly 2 ounces of crack cocaine, 8 grams of cocaine, 4 ounces of marijuana and 20 oxycontin pills following the execution of a search warrant on Javins' residence.

Sterling Felder, a 17-year-old outside linebacker who wore the No. 5 jersey for the Camden High School (CHS) Bulldog football team, died Monday morning of injuries sustained in a Nov. 13 collision in Lugoff. Felder lived on Chesnut Ferry Road in Camden, according to Kershaw County Coroner David West.
