KCSO arrests three in drive-by shooting case

Kershaw County Sheriff's Office (KCSO) deputies arrested three people between Tuesday and Friday in connection with a drive-by shooting that took place Tuesday. Kershaw County Sheriff Jim Matthews said deputies arrested one of the suspects Friday and the other two earlier in the week.

LFD discovers alligator after fighting fire

Members of the Lugoff Fire Department (LFD) made a startling discovery while checking possible damage from an apartment fire June 18: a young American alligator. According to LFD Chief Dennis Ray, firefighters weren't even in the damaged unit at Lugoff's Lynwood apartment complex off Frenwood Lane when they found the alligator.

Wife in child sex abuse case posts bond

A Kershaw County woman accused of looking the other way as her husband sexually abused their two daughters for more than six years posted bond Wednesday. A magistrate set a cash surety bond at $30,000 for Kelly Browning, charged earlier this week by the Kershaw County Sheriff's Office with two counts of unlawful neglect upon a child.

Parents arrested in child sex abuse case

Kershaw County Sheriff's Office (KCSO) investigators arrested a Lugoff couple after learning that a man sexually abused his two daughters. According to a statement released to the press Monday afternoon, investigators arrested Michael Dwight Browning, 36, and his 33-year-old wife, Kelly Marie Browning. The KCSO said Michael Browning allegedly abused his daughters sexually, one when she was between the ages of 8 and 14, the other when she was between 7 and 9 years of age. Bond denied again for man accused of shooting into occupied home

A Camden man will remain in the Kershaw County Detention Center after being denied bond for a July 14 incident in which he is alleged to have fired several shots into an ex-girlfriend's home and forced his way inside. Harley Joe Moore, 33, faces a list of charges for that event and another that occurred a month earlier on June 13.

County man killed in two-car collision

A 23-year-old county man died in a two-car collision in the Cassatt area shortly after noon Saturday when he failed to stop for a stop sign and collided with another vehicle.
