Richland County Sheriff's Department (RCSD) deputies charged an Elgin man Tuesday with kidnapping in connection with the disappearance of a 15-year-old Richland County girl. Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott identified the man as Freddie Grant, 52, of Kelly Road, in the town of Elgin.

Kershaw County Board of School Trustees member Joseph "Joey" Dorton, 46, died in a single-vehicle car crash early Wednesday morning.
