Rabon murder featured Sunday on cable TV show

The case of an 18-year-old Lugoff woman strangled to death by a male acquaintance in February 2014 was featured as a new episode of "On the Case with Paula Zahn" on the Investigation Discovery cable network. The episode, titled "Tracks of a Killer," aired Sunday at 10 p.m.

Man found guilty of incest sentenced to 30 years in prison

A 39-year-old man found guilty by a jury Friday of incest and criminal sexual conduct will spend the better part of 30 years in prison. A circuit court judge sentenced James Wayne Miller to consecutive 10- and 20-year sentences for sexually assaulting his own daughter for more than a year during 2011 and 2012. He will have to serve at least 85 percent of the 30 years before he is eligible to be released from prison.

An east Camden woman said she is "stunned" her ex-boyfriend -- who admitted to and was jailed for shooting into her home in July 2014 while she and her 11-year-old were home -- is already out of prison.

Grand jury returns no-bill for Methe

The Kershaw County Grand Jury returned a no-bill on charges of voluntary manslaughter against Jimmy Joe Methe, the 49-year-old east Camden man arrested a month ago for fatally shooting 17-year-old Brandon Scott Spencer during what appeared to be an attempt to break into one of Methe's vehicles.

Smoke detector blitz

Teams of firefighters went out into the south Camden community to speak with area residents about fire safety and offer to install free smoke detectors in their homes. John Wright, program manager for the Red Cross's Central South Carolina Chapter, said the smoke detector programs are an ongoing initiative by the Red Cross. Camden Fire Department Chief John Bowers thanked the Red Cross, saying this is not only a strong partnership, but a great opportunity to protect more than 200 homes and their residents in the community. Scam using ‘Publishers Clearing House’ name hits Camden

The Camden Police Department (CPD) alerted citizens via Facebook on Tuesday it is investigating a scam being perpetrated by people claiming to be from the well-known Publishers Clearing House (PCH) sweepstakes. CPD officials said in the post they received word from local residents who received the fraudulent mail.
