Ready to respond

After 48 hours of classroom instruction and practical training, Erica Broughton and Jeremy Kennington are now certified as Medical First Responders with the Buffalo-Mt. Pisgah Fire Department. Both volunteers recently attended training with other Kershaw County firefighters at Antioch Fire Department. With the addition of Broughton and Kennington, the Buffalo-Mt. Pisgah FD now has 14 Medical First Responders in service. Since the beginning of the program in March 2011, the department has responded to 44 medical calls in the Buffalo-Mt. Pisgah/Gates Ford areas. The First Responders have assisted patients until KershawHealth EMS Paramedics arrived to further treat and transport ...

Assault, home invasion leads to eight arrests by KCSO

A fight that occurred July 6 in Bethune resulted in the aggravated assault of Jeremy Caldwell, who was cut with a razor blade from his ankle to his groin. Caldwell made it back to his home where he called 911. Several of Caldwell's friends became enraged at the assault and drove to the home of Brandon Wilson and Cederic Everett on Rochelle Rd. in Bethune.
