Camden, Conway men indicted on cocaine charges

In a press release issued Jan. 24, U.S. South Carolina Attorney Beth Drake said Kemo Jason Smith, 39, of Camden, and Deandre Adarias Jenkins, 27, of Conway, were charged Tuesday in a multi-count indictment with conspiracy to import cocaine and conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute cocaine. Jenkins was additionally charged with possession of firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime, possession with intent to distribute controlled substances, and unlawful use of U.S. Mail. The maximum penalty they could receive for the conspiracy charges is a fine of $5 million and/or 40 years imprisonment.

Camden man pleads to federal firearm, drug charges

A Camden man pleaded guilty Thursday in federal court to being a felon in possession of a firearm and possession with intent to distribute marijuana, according to a press release issued by South Carolina U.S. Attorney Beth Drake.

Lugoff man charged with sexually assaulting three children

On Thursday, the Kershaw County Sheriff's Office (KCSO) arrested David Adam Barton, 42, of Lugoff, and charged him with two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor under 11 years of age and one count of third-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor under the age of 14.
