Thanks to grant, LF-R gets eight new AEDs

Sheriff gives $100,000 check to SCVAN

Every year, every county in South Carolina collects money from fines and assessments following court proceedings. A percentage of those funds are mandated by state law to be turned over to the state. In turn, South Carolina distributes a portion of that money back to the counties, including to sheriffs to be used to assist the many victims of crime.

Law enforcement, businesses team up for memorials

For many years, drivers along any number of roadways, including I-20 in Kershaw County, have seen roadside memorials erected by people mourning loved ones who have died in crashes. Soon, drivers will see a new set of memorials erected by law enforcement, constructed by students and paid for through business donations. No government funds, state or local taxes will be used to pay for the memorials, said Kershaw County Sheriff Jim Matthews.

Davis case is now murder investigation

KCSF calls for Leonard Price Award nominations

The Kershaw County Sheriff's Foundation (KCSF) Board of Directors is accepting 2017 nominations for the Leonard Price Friend of Law Enforcement Award. The KCSF established the award in 2012 to recognize the support of Kershaw County residents for the sheriff's office. The foundation named the award after the late Leonard L. Price, a former resident of the North Central area of Kershaw County who invested heavily in supporting law enforcement.
