LFD offers winter fire safety tips

Cassatt man arrested for fathering child with 14-year-old

Kershaw County Sheriff's Office (KCSO) investigators arrested Jonathan Edgar Sandoval, 23, of Cassatt, Thursday, charging him with criminal sexual conduct with a minor after positively determining he fathered a child with a 14-year-old girl.

Lugoff Fire Explorer Post wins big again

During the Lugoff Fire Board of Commissioners' Oct. 22 meeting, members recognized the Lugoff Fire Explorer Post for placing first in the Team Midnight Alarm Explorer Competition and third in the Team Gear Donning Competition at the annual Fire Fest held in Camden Sept. 29. County man sentenced in molestation case

A circuit court judge sentenced a county man, 33-year-old Danny Shawn Johnson II, to 16 years in prison for committing a lewd act on a 9-year-old girl. Circuit Court Judge L. Casey Manning handed down the sentence Wednesday.

Prestage Farms owner arrested in Washington, D.C.

Ron Prestage, president of Prestage Farms and a Kershaw County resident, spent most of Wednesday and part of Thursday in a Washington, D.C., jail cell. According to U.S. Capitol Police (USCP), Prestage, 59, was arrested around 9:20 a.m. Wednesday after officers discovered he was carrying a loaded handgun and a magazine with ammunition in a briefcase while trying to enter the Cannon House Office Building.
