KCSO arrests felon on drugs, gun charges

A Columbia man will have to come up with $135,000 cash in order to get out of the Kershaw County Detention Center after deputies arrested him Monday night on various drug and gun charges.

High speed pursuit results in arrest of soldier

A high speed chase through parts of Kershaw and Lee counties resulted in the arrest of a Fort Bragg, N.C., soldier Thursday. According to a Kershaw County Sheriff's Office (KCSO) press release, deputies arrested Michael Alexander Jackson, 23, after he led a deputies on a high speed chase on I-20 eastbound.

B-MPFD firefighters receive certifications

Two of Buffalo-Mt. Pisgah Fire Department (B-MPFD) volunteer firefighters recently completed firefighter training and obtained additional certifications. Brady Morgan, 16, attended Fundamentals of Firefighting class at the Camden Fire Department, while Mark Hinson attended Firefighter I class at the S.C. Fire Academy in Columbia. The Fundamentals of Firefighting, consists of 105 hours of instruction, including fire behavior, fire extinguishers, personal protective equipment, ladders, fire hose, fire streams, search and rescue, interior fire attack and self-survival. Smoke from Lugoff house fire seen near Lee County line

A June 14 house fire on Wildwood Lane in Lugoff was so intense, thick smoke rising from the roof could be seen as far away as I-20 near the Lee County line. The fire damaged 80 percent of the home, according to a Lugoff Fire-Rescue (LF-R) press release.
