Suspect caught vandalizing Patriots Landing

During the afternoon of April 4, two Kershaw County Sheriff's Office employees drove through the Patriots Landing parking area and observed a young man in his 4 wheel drive pickup truck spinning his tires and destroying the newly planted grass adjacent to the landing.

Bloodhound team apprehends two burglary suspects

April 5, the Kershaw County Sheriff's Office arrested 18-year-old Austin Colvin from Lugoff and a 16- year-old juvenile, also from Lugoff, after they broke into the Lucky 7 convenience store on Highway 1 South in Lugoff.

The SC Department of Public Safety once again recognized the Kershaw County Sheriff's Office as the Agency of the Year "for excelling in the area of DUI arrests, DUI victim services, and anti underage drinking programs in South Carolina during 2012."

KCSO arrests man wanted for burglaries

Kershaw County Sheriff Jim Matthews credits an alert deputy, Crimestoppers, a citizen tip and the Richland County Sheriff's Department Fugitive Task Force with identifying and arresting Torance Lamar Peoples (21) who was wanted by the Kershaw County Sheriff's Office for a string of home burglaries. The arrest took place in Richland County on Tuesday.

Bond denied again for 2011 rape suspect

A circuit court judge denied bond Friday for a Columbia man accused of the October 2011 carjacking of a woman in Columbia and raping her in Kershaw County. Franklin Graham, 26, who faces charges of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and kidnapping, has been held without bond in the Kershaw County Detention Center since his arrest 16 months ago. A judge initially denied Graham bond shortly after his arrest in 2011. Since being detained, he has been additionally charged with being a prisoner carrying or concealing a weapon, according to online court records.
