Man leads deputies on 30-mile chase

During the early morning hours Saturday, Kershaw County Sheriff's Office (KCSO) deputies arrested Rasheed Timothy Sumpter, 25, of Bishopville, following a lengthy high speed pursuit which began in Kershaw County and ended up in Lee County. According to a KCSO press release, deputies charged Sumpter with failure to stop for a blue light, malicious injury to personal property, resisting arrest and DUI.

Two injured in Lugoff drive-by shooting, suspects in custody

Two people are recovering from injuries and two men are in custody following a drive-by shooting Saturday night on Bob-O-Link Road in Lugoff.

Armory restaurant co-owner arrested on Florida bench warrant

Kershaw County Sheriff's Office deputies entered The Armory Restaurant in Camden on Thursday night and arrested co-owner Edward N. Carminas on a probation violation connected to a 2009 Florida cocaine possession conviction. Caraminas, 59, is being detained at the Kershaw County Detention Center where, according to Kershaw County Sheriff Jim Matthews, he is awaiting extradition to Nassau County, Fla.

The Kershaw County Sheriff's Office (KCSO) arrested two people at a Railgate Loop, Lugoff residence after a house fire revealed the presence of a methamphetamine lab on Friday.

KCSO arrests man for A/C copper thefts, sales

Kershaw County Sheriff's Office (KCSO) investigators arrested a homeless man Tuesday for destroying two air conditioning units from a Lugoff business, stripping the copper from them and selling the copper to a local scrap yard.

A man died Saturday evening after his car collided with a pickup truck in Elgin. Kershaw County Coroner David West said George E. "Butch" Jackson, of Chestnut Road, Elgin, died around 6 p.m. Saturday.
