One commercial motor coach bus crashed into another on I-20 Saturday morning as both buses swerved to avoid a couch that had, somehow, ended up on the highway. S.C. Highway Patrol (SCHP) Lance Cpl. Judd Jones said the crash took place around 9 a.m. and kept the eastbound side of the highway shut down for approximately two and a half hours. The two buses were carrying a total of around 100 people to the Cup, Jones said.
Fire departments and technology centers from all over South Carolina sent firefighting Explorers and Junior Firefighters to compete in a competition at the S.C. Fire Academy in Columbia on March 8. The academy asked crews from Lugoff Fire-Rescue (LF-R) to coordinate the event after a successful similar event at the S.C. Firefighter's Association Conference in June 2013. The Kershaw County Sheriff's Office (KCSO) is seeking a man in connection with the shooting death of a Camden man Saturday. In a press release, Sheriff Jim Matthews identified the man investigators want to talk to as 22-year-old Robert Wendell Simon. The sheriff said investigators want to talk to Simon about the death of Antwan Dixon, 25, of Black River Road, Camden.

The Kershaw County Sheriff's Office (KCSO) cited six businesses for selling beer to minors following an undercover operation Wednesday night. The operation included having underage individuals, under the KCSO's direction, attempt to purchase alcoholic beverages from 24 businesses in the county licensed to sell alcohol. In each of the 24 attempts, the underage person presented legitimate identification clearly showing them to be under the age of 21.

One of five men charged in connection with a May 2011 crime spree that ended with the murder of a county man will be 73 years old when he walks out of jail. Wednesday, Frank Terrance Singleton III, 26, of Camden, pled guilty to murder, armed robbery, burglary and two counts of kidnapping. The Kershaw County Sheriff's Office (KCSO) arrested an Elgin woman Tuesday after she allegedly stabbed another woman and cut a man in Lugoff. Sheriff Jim Matthews said deputies arrested Brandie Renee Hughes, 29, of Sessions Road, after she reportedly attacked the man and woman at a Lugoff motel on U.S. 1 at approximately 8 p.m. Tuesday.
Camden Police Department (CPD) officers are investigating a fraud/confidence game/breach of trust case that reportedly scammed a Camden woman out of more than $29,000. A CPD report said the victim told police she received a phone message from a man claiming to be with the Internal Revenue Service who said she risked being arrested if she did not contact him immediately.

Stephen Ross Kelly, 21, charged with kidnapping, sexually assaulting and strangling 18-year-old Briana Nicole Rabon to death will apparently remain in jail until his trial.
