Man sentenced for sexually assaulting daughters

In mid-June, Kershaw County Sheriff's Office (KCSO) investigators arrested 36-year-old Michael Browning for allegedly sexually abusing his own daughters. Browning pled guilty Wednesday and will spend the next 25 years in prison.

Elgin man arrested in connection with kidnapping Richland County teen

Richland County Sheriff's Department (RCSD) deputies charged an Elgin man Tuesday with kidnapping in connection with the disappearance of a 15-year-old Richland County girl. Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott identified the man as Freddie Grant, 52, of Kelly Road, in the town of Elgin.

Kershaw County Sheriff's Office (KCSO) investigators arrested a 35-year-old county man for allegedly sexually assaulting his 17-year-old daughter. In order to protect the victim's identity, the Kershaw County Sheriff's Office (KCSO) is not releasing the suspect's name.

Elgin man named as suspect in Columbia shooting

An Elgin man ended up in the hospital after being shot the morning of Aug. 14 by S.C. Highway Patrol (SCHP) troopers in Columbia following a chase on I-20 that ended in Columbia's Five Points district.

A Lugoff man was arrested Monday in connection to a home invasion robbery earlier this month and a September burglary. Kershaw County Sheriff's Office (KCSO) investigators arrested Tanner Reece Brittain, 21, is facing charges following the home invasion Oct. 7 in which he allegedly kicked in the door of a residence and robbed the home owner at gunpoint. Lugoff Fire-Rescue and Kershaw County Fire Service join forces with Special Operations Team

Kershaw County residents are now provided better emergency response with the recent formation of the Special Operations Team, a cooperative effort between the Lugoff Fire-Rescue (LF-R) Department and the Kershaw County Fire Service. The team specializes in accidents involving hazardous materials, unusual rescues and other unique situations. LF-R Battalion Chief Chris Spitzer said the 20 team members were handpicked from the best firefighters around the county and had to receive extra training for the situations they may encounter.
