A decision on whether or not a Rembert woman accused of shooting and killing a 33-year-old man would be granted bond had not been made by press time Friday.

Morning crash

The Lugoff Fire-Rescue (LF-R) Department responded to a call of a two-vehicle collision around 9 a.m. Tuesday on U.S. 601 in front of Pondish Construction. LF-R Chief Dennis Ray said in a press release a Ford F-150 pickup turned in front of a Pontiac sports car, which hit the truck on the right side. Ray said both vehicles were heavily damaged, but the drivers received minor injuries. Both were taken to KershawHealth by EMS. Two arrested in Cassatt drug raid

Kershaw County Sheriff's Office (KCSO) deputies arrested two men Sept. 24 -- one from Camden and the other from Cassatt -- on drug charges when the KCSO's narcotics and special response teams served a search warrant at a Cassatt home.

Columbia man, 51, charged with having sex with girl, 15

A 51-year-old Columbia man is out on bail after turning himself in to Kershaw County authorities Monday on charges he had sexual relations with a 15-year-old girl in Lugoff. A Kershaw County Sheriff's Office (KCSO) press release said deputies charged Anthony Alan Corley with second degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor.

Fire Fest 2014 filled with demonstrations, family fun

Flames roared and smoke billowed out of a makeshift living room behind Rhame Arena on Saturday. Moments later, a similar fire started in an identical "living room" next to it, but never got out of hand, thanks to a sprinkler system installed in the second room.

Man arrested for failure to stop for blue lights for third time

The Kershaw County Sheriff's Office (KCSO) arrested a Camden man Tuesday after he turned himself in to deputies. Anthony Lorenzo Jackson, 24, faces charges of failure to stop for a blue light, possession of a stolen pistol, driving under the influence and driving under suspension.

Rushing wins Thurmond Excellence in Law Enforcement award

A Kershaw County man who has served with the S.C. State Law Enforcement Division (SLED) since 1999 is this year's winner of the state-level Strom Thurmond Award for Excellence in Law Enforcement. SLED Special Agent Jack Rushing III, who lives in Camden, received the award during a banquet at the Fort Jackson Officers' Club on Sept. 12.

Saturday marks 19th annual Fire Fest

The 19th Annual Camden/Kershaw County Fire Fest will be held at Rhame Arena, 517 Bull St., on Saturday, beginning at 9 a.m. in Camden. This year's event will kick off with the annual parade of fire trucks and emergency vehicles down Broad Street to Rhame Arena. The festivities will include food, competitions and demonstrations.

Body recovered from Wateree River

After a search spanning nearly 40 hours, crews from local and state agencies found the body of a missing Sumter man on Monday morning in the Wateree River approximately one-half mile from where he disappeared. Authorities said Michael Adell Kolb, 47, disappeared around 5 p.m. Saturday from Patriot's Landing, the boat ramp and dock below the U.S. 1 bridge crossing the river and connecting Camden with Lugoff.
