The body of a 44-year-old Lugoff man that went missing after he fell out of his boat into the Wateree River was found late Monday afternoon. Michael Thompson fell out of his boat into the Wateree River around 11 p.m. Saturday after he and a female friend hit debris in the river, according to Camden Fire Department Chief John Bowers, who also acts as director the Camden-Kershaw County Rescue Squad (C-KCRS).
A 34-year-old Lugoff man is accused of inappropriately touching two teenage girls and a 21-year-old woman, and of having sex with one of the teens. Neither a Kershaw County Sheriff's Office (KCSO) report nor online court records indicate deputies have charged the man with a crime as of Tuesday afternoon.
The Kershaw County Sheriff's Office (KCSO) and Department of Social Services are looking into a case where a 31-year-old woman with mental issues claimed to have been forced to commit sex acts against her will while staying with someone who was supposed to be taking care of her. One of the alleged victim's friends brought the matter to the KCSO's attention.
A Kershaw County man pled guilty June 27 to 12 counts of ill treatment of animals and eight counts of breeding dogs for illegal purposes, all felony charges.
