The Camden Police Department (CPD) is investigating a burglary at a wearable art shop on Broad Street that took place sometime between 6:30 p.m. April 18 and 9:30 p.m. April 19.

Child abuse case lands Lugoff couple in jail

A woman and her live in boyfriend are in jail after Kershaw County Sheriff's Office (KCSO) investigators determined that the woman's 4 year old daughter had been physically abused so severely that both of her arms and one of her legs were broken.

Truck stop

A pickup truck struck the corner of Gags Liquors at the intersection of West DeKalb and Wylie streets in Camden late Thursday morning. The vehicle struck another truck in the parking lot and then jumped a parking space block to land atop a raised walkway in front of the store. An ambulance transported the 72-year-old Camden man driving the truck to the hospital. The Camden Police Department determined the man suffered a medical condition which caused the accident.

Westville man charged with break-in, attempted assault

A 36-year-old county man was arrested Thursday after allegedly breaking into a Westville home and attempting to sexually assault a woman.

Kershaw County Sheriff's Office (KCSO) deputies arrested a 50-year-old Camden man April 10 after he allegedly fired a shotgun blast at three juveniles and then threatened the father of two of the boys with a sword.

LFD to purchase new vehicles

The Lugoff Fire District Board of Commissioners recently voted to enter into a capital lease purchase agreement -- not to exceed $980,000 -- to buy a new rescue pumper, a service truck and equipment to operate both vehicles.

KCSO tracks, arrests burglary suspect

Using bloodhounds, Kershaw County Sheriff's Office (KCSO) deputies tracked and arrested Ronald Outen, 34, and charged him with second degree burglary and third degree assault Tuesday after he broke into a woman's home on Roberts Road in Elgin and assaulted her.
