In his own words, Camden Police Department (CPD) Detective James Heming describes his recent win in the Open Class Revolver Championship at the South Carolina Police Combat League's Palmetto State Classic Pistol Competition as, "Truly a highlight in my career -- with years of shooting competition under my belt it is amazing to me that I was able to come out on top of 68 other competitors in the main event revolver match, and then to be able to win first place in the Two-Man Team competition with teammate Earl Berry was more than exciting, to say the least."

Clarence Mahoney -- a former chairman of the Camden Historic Landmarks Commission (CHLC) and a former member of Camden's Bethesda Presbyterian Church's session, the ruling body of the church -- is now in a New Hampshire jail serving a seven and a half to 15-year sentence for sexually assaulting a male child.
Kershaw County Sheriff's Office narcotics agents, acting on tips from citizens, rounded up 14 drug dealers Monday as part of a several months-long investigation. Sheriff Jim Matthews said the investigation included making controlled undercover buys from known, "problem" drug dealers and executing search warrants at locations throughout the county.
Kershaw County Sheriff's Office (KCSO) deputies arrested a Columbia man early Thursday morning they believe is responsible for five burglaries in Kershaw County. Four of those burglaries took place Wednesday in Lugoff.
