Penny sales tax, combined school location on tap

The Kershaw County Board of School Trustees will continue its facilities discussion tonight in possible preparation of a ballot referendum for November's general election. Trustees will focus on whether or not to revisit a 15-year penny sales tax as a funding source for a list of facility-related projects. The board will also receive an update from staff about possible locations for a combined Bethune and Mt. Pisgah elementary school along S.C. 341. Tonight's meeting is being held at Mt. Pisgah Elementary School.

Ginger, the reading dog

This past semester, Lugoff-Elgin High School (L-EHS) added a furry four-legged companion to its community. Eighteen-month-old Ginger knows the way to her room in the L-EHS library where she accompanies her owner, Donna Garber, during some week days. Ginger is a reading dog and patiently sits while students read to her to practice their reading skills.
