Fourth- and fifth-grade students at Baron DeKalb Elementary School completed various activities including the Trust Walk (visual); Muffled Directions (auditory); Mirror Reading (learning); and Mouth Writing (physical). Bright Knights

The Marching Knights placed seventh at the S.C. Band Directors Association's 1A State Championship at Batesburg-Leesville High School. This was the first time in eight years North Central has been represented at the state level and this was the highest placement in the school's known history. The North Central Marching Knights were the only marching band to represent the Kershaw County School District at the state level this year.

Salute to veterans

The kindergarten students at Pine Tree Hill School made and decorated instruments for the school's annual Veterans Day parade. The students marched in honor of all veterans ,especially those who attended the second-grade program. Parents and community members joined in the red, white and blue salute to thank veterans.

Contract finalized for new KCSD office

The Kershaw County School District finalized a contract Thursday with PrimeRealty Group to purchase property that housed the former Howden-Buffalo operations on U.S. 1 in Camden.

Tolliver tapped for Phi Theta Kappa

The students in Christie Whitehouse's Honors Spanish 3 at Lugoff-Elgin High School researched a famous Spanish speaker in the areas of history, art, literature and music. Trustees split in favor of substitute teacher contract

Kelly Services will provide contract substitute teachers to the Kershaw County School District (KCSD). However, the vote to do so was split, 5-4, among members of the Kershaw County Board of School Trustees at their meeting Tuesday.
